Permitted development & Prior approval

Permitted development rights allow you to carry out certain developments without the need to submit a planning application.

As you will imagine, it’s really not that simple and each permitted development right has various conditions and limitation which vary in their complexity.

Some of those conditions require an application to be made to see whether the council needs you to submit details for their approval - this is known as the ‘prior approval’ process. This i not a full planning application so you will not necessarily need all the drawings and reports a full application would need. The council can then permit your application with or without conditions, or refuse it.

If you think your development project would benefit from permitted development rights, give us a call and we can help guide you through what can be a very complex process.
